The designer Jonathan Joseph Peters drew inspiration from the Italian Renaissance for his StyleWeek Season 10 show. Holly Dalton glued down and covered the eyebrows of the “Modern Madonnas” to simulate the shaved brows popular with well-to-do Florentine women in the 1500’s. Unlike the nude or peachy lips favored by da Vinci or Raphael in their paintings, models wore a deep wine-colored shade. Betha Wood created elaborate braids using package upon package of Kanekalon. Hair was pulled away from the face to show off the forehead, another Renaissance beauty trick. The finished styles were topped with delicately dangerous headpieces by House of Cach.
